shit hit the fan

In the past two weeks, substantially mind shattering news has been released having to do with the world cup teams of next year. Sam Hill went to Nukeproof seemingly out of the blue and then the even bigger news, Aaron Gwin goes to Specialized. I almost shit myself when I read that press release. Aaron Gwin to Specialized, could it really be. I can fathom Hill moving to Nukeproof. It honestly makes sense. The massive "Costco of the bike world" sized paycheck, a team where he is the unquestioned king and a fresh start with a dialed bike. Not a bad move.

Now to the drama. Why would Gwin leave Trek when he signed a 3 year contract until 2015 is the question every dumbass pinkbike grom is asking. Well here is your answer. He never actually signed a contract, is was a letter of intent. The two things are very different. Somehow, even Martin Whiteley seems to have forgotten the difference and is threatening to sue Specialized. I would really like to see him try. He has no legitimate argument aside the letter of intent, which means pretty much nothing. So basically, he is a fish out of water. I also have another problem with him. He tried to get Minnaar to break his contract with Syndicate and go to Trek World Racing. This makes him a big hypocrite. So its cool for one of your managed riders to jump ship, but if someone else wants to because they are offered more money its a crime? Basically Whiteley is just butthurt to loose Gwin.
If you are making the money he is you can wear a fedora too

Worse news even yet is that Elliot Jackson is leaving racing. The world will miss his steeze.
